That high school piano had a rich, clear voice, with a sparkle a little like the Yamaha sound we've all gotten used to hearing, yet it had very different personality. My high school had a late 1960's SD-10 - still the favorite piano I've ever played, and the Episcopal church in town had a beautiful vintage Baldwin 7'grand from the early 1900's (with that classic, 'American' sound, in spades.) ![]() I was charmed at quite an early age by Baldwin pianos. I don't think you're mistaken it's a definitive sound. ![]() ![]() There's only a few of them here, but they generally sound and play nice. I might be mistaken, but as an Aussie, I hear the Baldwin sound as a genuine American piano sound. ![]()
